WTC Barcelona’s Commitment to Sustainability
WTCB drives a sustainable model aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
WTCB: Aligned with the SDGs for a Sustainable Future
Sustainability is a core pillar of management at the World Trade Center Barcelona. WTCB follows a corporate responsibility model that balances economic growth, environmental preservation, and social well-being.
In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we have developed a strategic plan to reduce environmental impact and promote responsible practices across all operations.
Through concrete and measurable actions, we move toward a better and more sustainable future for all.

WTCB’s key sustainability initiatives
The WTCB adopts measures that optimize its environmental impact and ensure sustainable management of its events and operations.

Food & Beverage
Our catering service offers sustainable and tailored menus using recyclable packaging, locally sourced ingredients, and eco-friendly options. Our kitchens are certified under ISO 22000:2018 for Food Safety.

Waste Management
We ensure proper waste segregation and management, working with certified waste handlers for responsible treatment.

Sustainable Carpets
We use carpets manufactured with reduced water, energy, and polypropylene consumption during events.

Plastic Packaging Replacement
Traditional containers have been replaced with more sustainable alternatives like Tetrapak to reduce single-use plastics.

Energy-Efficient Climate Control
Advanced HVAC systems optimize energy use and maintain temperatures in compliance with government energy efficiency standards.

Local Suppliers
We prioritize local vendors to support the circular economy and reduce the carbon footprint from transportation.

Certifications backing WTCB’s environmental commitment
WTC Barcelona actively works to reduce its carbon emissions. Since 2019, WTCB has been registered in the official carbon footprint registry and participates in CO2 offsetting and absorption projects led by the Ministry for Ecological Transition.
Our efforts are supported by various certifications in sustainability and corporate responsibility, highlighting efficient resource management and the implementation of environmentally conscious practices.
Integrating the Circular Economy in every operation
At the WTC Congress Center, we follow circular economy principles, replacing single-use plastics with recyclable and compostable materials. Waste segregation systems have been implemented to enable efficient recycling, reducing the environmental impact of our operations.
In catering, we prioritize proximity products and work predominantly with local suppliers, supporting the circular economy and lowering emissions from transport. We also select certified ingredients that meet strict sustainability standards, focusing on seasonal products for better flavor and lower environmental impact.
